when I click the node to add the various windshield nodes, it would seem that the pmd’s are missing, I have tried re-downloading the archive from the mega folder, and tried in a fresh game with no other mods, with the same result. Is there something wrong with the download I have?

Its on mine as well. I remember using another truck, which had those nodes, activated it and then it showed up. Weird

It could be that the folder names in some of the def files were changed from “toyglass” to “toyglass000” for example.
Administrator said this is because of the truck needing to be backwards compatible in case folks wanna run the toys mods and so on.
The .pmd file is where the data for the positions of the locators for accessories is kept.
If the folder containing the files that call the .pmd file(s) are unavailable (ie. foldername change), then the error and possible crash can occur.

          Stupid keyboard.
pmd files contain materials data of accessories’ positions etc.
          pmg files contain geometry data
which is closer to the truth

They were completely missing, not even the base folder was there. I made a temp fix for it using the truck part it was pointing to and it works perfectly now. Perhaps it was shifted, but I saw nothing else referring to those nodes. Either way it works now. On to the mirror issue. The one mirror set, I believe its called black mirror 2, on the passenger side is angled completely wrong….so your looking at a reflection almost 90* to the truck itself, and not behind you like it should. I have also noticed recently that the side mirror hasn’t been updated and becomes almost black in as the evening approaches. On a side note with that mirror, it would be nice to have the option to remove it altogether, however I know that could be a lot more complicated to do than it sounds.

              @serialblack
There are 3 glass ‘files’. glass.dds, glass_int.dds, and glass_ex.dds and you’ll find them in the “vehicle\truck\share” folder.
Because they are shared files across the entire game, they are not required in the individual truck mod(s). The behaviour of the glass is determined by how the ‘material’ is set up. This is where you tint, colour , etc. and that info does reside in the truck mod.
Not sure how one mirror is dark and the other isn’t, unless the RHS mirror mesh wasn’t updated. It’s possible.
BUT, if both those mirrors use the same material? Then they cannot exhibit different behaviours. That’s an RTA question.

I think the reflection angle is determined by the angle of the relevant ‘cam’ locator in the truck model itself. There are two mirror models. One external and one internal.
There’s two ways of preventing the internal mirror models from being rendered..
              1. Simply find the def file for the mirror (eg: “def\vehicle\truck\kenw908\accessory\mirror”) and comment-out the line that begins with “interior_model:”
This will, of course prevent BOTH left and right models and reflections from being rendered. But the external truck views will still render the external models.

              2. Learn how to use Blender or ZModeler and simply remove the RHS mirror meshes and locators from that model 🙂

You raise an interesting point tho, because with certain trucks (T908 is one) I always edit the internal model of the LHS mirror and move it closer to the truck’s door.
Shortening the brackets, if you will.

I know about as much of how to use Zmodeler/Blender as I do the consistency of the dust on Mars, lol. I suppose I should learn a few things if I am to continue modding the game to suit my style/tastes. That side mirror (The one on the top of the door, not the main right mirror) seems as though it hasn’t been updated to 1.40, whereas the others have. Could that just be as simple as transferring over the latest attributes in a file, or would that require blender? I guess for the one passenger mirror (passenger side mirror, not the smaller top one on the same right side) I could take the information from the chrome one as far as FOV angles and such, and apply it do the mirror with the FOV that is horribly off….(the black variant of the same set)….I have pics of it somewhere if you need visuals…

oh, ok.  The material for the side mirror is a separate material to the others.
Any files in any folder with the name ‘share’, exist in the game already. All trucks use those files, even SCS trucks.
I always remove those files from RTA (and other) trucks because they overwrite the game files of the same name, at runtime.
The reflection from those mirrors though, is quite a different look than the others.
